My little baby dog, Prancy, went to heaven today. She was the absolute best dog I could have ever hoped to have as my best friend. She loved the winter and the feel of the cold wind blowing. She was born and lived most of her life in the Appalachian mountains, they perfect place for a winter wonderland. And she never needed a coat with her thick mane of hair. It was easy to get caught up in her enthusiasm and the way she pranced around in joy gave her her name. We travelled many miles together and she loved road trips. She wasn’t much help reading a map but was really good at letting me know it was time for a potty break, usually in traffic in Houston, Charlotte, or Atlanta. She was a wonderful companion. Prancy loved people. She would bark when anyone new came through the door then be ready to play with them. She knew she was loved. Unfortunately, there was nothing I could do to save her. My heart is full of sadness but I am so grateful for the 16 years of joy that she gave me. I know she’ll be waiting for me in heaven. Rest In Peace my little baby dog.
